Huddle Up is grounded in Social Learning, the theory that we learn best from each other as we share solutions and give/ receive feedback. Because of this, we want to foster participation by sharing each user’s Social Score within each Project. The Social Score is one metric that can be used to track participation, feedback, and involvement. As each user shares, the entire group benefits.

The Social Score is calculated according to the following criteria.  Each category has a daily maximum value that can be earned, but that does not limit the amount of actions a user may take daily.

  1. Every completed Run / Huddle component = 10 points. (No points are awarded for revisions.) Max of 10/day (the maximum daily points earned for this category is 100 points,  10x10)

  2. Every feedback (within a Huddle or as optional Open Feedback) that is shared = 5 points each, max 10/day

  3. Private messages (and replies) = 3 points each, max of 10x /day

  4. Group chats and Bulletin Board contributions = 3 points each,  max of 10x /day

  5. Logging into Huddle Up = 2 points, max of 1x /day.

The social score is tracked individually for each user, and the overall Course Average Social Score is shared with all users as a comparison metric.  At the completion of a Project, a portion of each user’s Social Score is added to each user’s User Profile section help document growth over time.
